Open House - S.T.E.A.M Night - Art Show on March 8th from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. Please come experience a fun filled evening! Get your Passports ready to travel through Boone’s hallways to visit classrooms, marvel at students' curated original artwork and explore hands-on activities. It's going to be a marvelous night at Boone for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math!



Keep an eye out for an Artome QR code in the next few weeks, parents will be able to view and pre-purchase student artwork prior to that night.

HP Arts drums up cultural experience for Bulldogs

Third and fourth-graders experienced a drumming master class Jan. 26. The interactive drumming session was a unique assembly program where all students had their very own authentic West African djembe drum to play. Students worked as a team to accomplish the goal of making music together.

The djembe drum originated in Mali, West Africa. Bulldogs learned important facts surrounding the djembe such as how Texas is slightly bigger than France, but Mali is two times the size of Texas. The djembes that were played were made in Senegal and Ghana. The experience of having 180 drums in one location seemed loud and it certainly was, but the experience that each student and teacher received was unmatched. Boone would like to send special thanks to HP Arts for making the event possible.

Special Olympics students go for gold at competition

Students demonstrate basketball skills during Special Olympics competition.
Thirty-two Highland Park Special Olympics students attended the Basketball Skills Competition Jan. 25 at Ferris High School. The athletes demonstrated skills in dribbling, shooting and passing. The day ended with a combined scrimmage among the older athletes who played in a 5-on-5 game and scored many buckets.

The HPISD Special Programs department would like to thank all the participating student-athletes, parents, teachers, staff and peer partners for attending the event and making it a success. Anyone interested in learning more about Highland Park Special Olympics may contact Hannah Reynolds.
