All About Mrs. Everett
Welcome to Kindergarten! I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child. This year will be my twenty-first year to teach. I have taught kindergarten, first and second grades in HPISD, DISD and Grand Prairie I.S.D. Most recently, I taught kindergarten for fifteen years at U.P. and before that I was active on the PTA Board for the years my children attended U.P. I was born and raised in Dallas. I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Mathematics and received my teaching certificate. Hook’em Horns! I earned my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education including endorsements in kindergarten and ESL at Texas A&M - Commerce.
My husband and I have four children who are all Highland Park graduates. My three oldest children are also college grads living in Germany, Chicago and Arkansas. My youngest is finishing his last year at West Point in New York. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking (and sometimes running) our new puppy Hondo, traveling, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
I enjoy learning and growing with my students. I believe that the key to success is believing in yourself. I want to build a classroom community where kids are engaged in their learning, willing to take risks, problem solvers and advocates for themselves and others. I want my students to feel safe, secure and happy while in my classroom.
