All About Mrs. Everett
Welcome to Kindergarten! I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child. This year will be my twenty-second year to teach. I have taught kindergarten, first and second grades in HPISD, DISD and Grand Prairie I.S.D. Most recently, I taught kindergarten for fifteen years at U.P. and before that I was active on the PTA Board for the years my children attended U.P. I was born and raised in Dallas. I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Mathematics and received my teaching certificate. Hook’em Horns! I earned my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education including endorsements in kindergarten and ESL at Texas A&M - Commerce.
My husband and I have four children who are all Highland Park graduates. My youngest graduated college last May - yay! They are living in Germany, Chicago, Arkansas and Oklahoma. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking (and sometimes running) our dogs Hondo and Adeleigh, traveling, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
I enjoy learning and growing with my students. I believe that the key to success is believing in yourself. I want to build a classroom community where kids are engaged in their learning, willing to take risks, problem solvers and advocates for themselves and others. I want my students to feel safe, secure and happy while in my classroom.
