School Day Information

Arrival

  • 7:30 AM: School doors open for students. Students arriving by car should enter through the front doors on Durham. Students walking or biking should enter through the side doors on Wentwood. Preschool parents may walk their children to Room 108 between 7:30–7:45AM.

  • 7:45 AM: First Bell rings and teachers open classroom doors. Kindergarten through fourth grade students arriving before 7:45AM will wait in their grade-level pod supervised by Boone staff until classrooms open. Parents walking students to class should wait in the foyer or Wentwood entrance area until this time.

  • 7:55AM: Tardy Bell rings and classes begin promptly. All exterior doors are locked at this time. Parents accompanying students to classrooms are asked to depart by 7:55AM to minimize distractions to the academic environment.

  • Late Arrival: Students arriving after 7:55AM must enter through the front doors on Durham and be checked in by a parent or guardian using the QR code in the front office area. Parents will not be permitted to walk students to class after instruction has begun.

  • Early Arrival: Students may arrive beginning at 7:30AM. Students arriving before 7:45AM will wait in designated supervised grade-level areas until classroom doors open.

Dismissal

  • 3:15PM: Dismissal begins for all students. Students are expected to leave campus promptly following dismissal.

  • Walker & Biker Dismissal: Students walking, biking, or meeting parents will be dismissed through the Wentwood doors. Parents should wait on the lawn by designated grade-level signs. Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade students must be picked up in person by a parent, caregiver, or older sibling and may not walk or bike home alone.

  • Independent Walkers/Bikers: Second, third, and fourth grade students may walk or bike home independently once dismissed by staff. Older siblings meeting younger siblings should check out with the younger sibling’s teacher.

  • Dismissal Changes: Parents are encouraged to keep the same dismissal plan each day. Any dismissal changes should be communicated to the teacher that morning. Changes after 12:00PM must be called into the front office.

  • EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY PROGRAM (until 6PM): Offered by The Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) from 3:15—6:00PM. Contact Cha Cha Bjork in the A.L.L. Office at 214-780-3380 or email bjorkc@hpisd.org. Charges apply.
